MWC 2018

All the world’s largest technology brands and phone makers have geared up for the biggest smartphone technology event, Mobile World Congress 2018. What adds to the hype is the leaks and the rumors of the latest flagships from the top brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, Asus, Nokia, and Huawei.Talking about the development in the processors, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is expected to make its debut in Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ along with Asus’ Zenfone 5 and Sony’s completely redesigned and fresh Xperia flagship. The latest chipset is being looked as a driving force to bring improved imaging using its Spectra 280 ISP along with a powerful performance boost, consequently, 2.5X higher display throughput, 30 percent faster graphics rendering and an applaudable improvement in visual processes. A lot is expected from the Snapdragon 845 and will surely be the hot talk in the latest mobile phones arena.

Another trending topic is the adoption of the ‘The Notch’ on Android smartphones. The next Android OS version-awaited Android P-can be seen bringing support for the iPhone X-like notch-the Apple’s taste! As per the rumors, this emerging trend firstly can be seen in Asus Zenfone 5 at this year’s MWC. Apart from the notch, flagships can be seen tilting towards the likes of bezel-free displays among the users with the popular being 18:9 aspect ratio among the smartphone makers.

Samsung

The South Korean phone maker is in limelight these days for its much-awaited flagship phone Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. There have been numerous leaks and rumors surrounding the launch of the Samsung much-awaited Galaxy flagships. The two phones are going to debut the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor as well as impressive Samsung’s own Exynos 9810- believe me, leaked benchmarks show them really powerful! Talking about the quality photography skills, there’ll be a variable aperture, and both the phones will be loaded with the features like 3D emojis(a bit Apple like stuff), Slow-mo videos, improved Bixby and a lot more.Coming to the general specifications part, the screens on the S9 and S9+  will be same as last year’s 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED panels and the Ram options will be – 4GB for S9 and 6Gb for S9+.The Galaxy S9 and S9+ launch are scheduled for February 25,10: 30 PM IST.

Sony

The Japanese tech giant Sony has managed to hide its plans very well till now but some weak rumors have suggested that the company is ready to make a strong re-entry in the smartphone segment with its redesigned flagship smartphone as a candidate for the big event, MWC. The new flagship model is being seen as a smartphone to come with a revolutionized design and won’t feature its age-old rectangular, boxy design philosophy. It is also rumored that the company is completely set and might launch the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 Pro. Talking about the specifications, they are expected to be powered with Snapdragon 845 SoC and will boast a 4K resolution displays and 6GB of RAM along with a first for Sony- dual cameras set up.The big launch for Sony is scheduled for February 26,1PM IST.
Nokia

Last year, everyone witnessed a strong comeback by HMD Global Nokia at MWC. This year the company is expected to showcase the best it has got till the date. The much-awaited Nokia 7 plus is the hot talk these days.The images of this phone have been leaked on the internet quite a few times and the phone is expected to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display. Thin bezel look can be seen in this new phone accompanied with a dual rear camera setup. The smartphone is expected to be categorized as a mid-range on the budget segment as it will feature the Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Nokia 7 Plus will be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 660 chipset to be launched in India and is expected to be seen in Indian markets in the month of May/June. The company is also rumored to launch a low-cost Android smartphone Nokia 1, details about which have not been revealed yet. Leaks have further suggested that company is also ready to launch the Nokia 9/Nokia 8 Sirocco flagship.Let’s see what the company is looking forward to showcasing in the big event. The Nokia launch event is slated for February 25,8: 30 PM IST.

Asus

As per the leaks, the renowned budget smartphone maker Asus might surprise every tech savvy at MWC with a good budget/mid-range smartphone named Zenphone5 Lite which is expected to come with a quad camera setup-get, ready shutterbugs! However, it is a bit depressing that the company is still using the Zenfone 5 tag for the new model as the previous Zenfone 5s were launched in the year 2014.As per the rumors, the company is nowadays completely into cloning the iPhone X’s notch and adding it to its flagship Zenfone 5 smartphone.It wasn’t a long ago that the device marked its presence on AnTuTu with 6GB RAM and powerful Snapdragon 845 processor chipset. Talking about the display, the new phone might come with a 5.7-inch display and  18:9 aspect ratio. Coming to the camera quality, Zenfone 5 is expected to have dual cameras at the rear end but the Zenfone 5 Lite will enjoy the upper edge with dual camera setup on both the sides. The Zenfone 5 Lite is rumored to boast a dual 20MP shooter at the front-for crystal clear selfies and a 16MP+16MP  camera setup at the rear end. The big Asus Launch event will take place on February 27,12AM IST.

Huawei

Though, earlier it was rumoured that the Chinese phone maker Huawei will showcase its flagship P20 and P20 Plus smartphones at MWC but the company has denied such rumours and made clear about its plan to launch the new phones in a separate launch event on March 27, It is expected that at MWC 2018, the company will be looking forward to making a stronghold over tablets segment by the showcasing of its three tablets in its MediaPad M5 series. Talking about the different variants: firstly, there will be an 8.4 inch model with a 2560×1600 pixel display and company’s very own Kirin 960 processor along with 4GB RAM and 32 storage of RAM, secondly, a 10-inch model and third, a Pro model accompanied with a stylus. Apart from the tablet, the company is expected to show its innovative walk in the 5G development and a new smartwatch at the big event on February 25. 

LG

LG has rolled out some news about the launch of a better and refreshed version of LG V30 smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2018 although the company has not given any details about the special event for the same. The LG V30 2018 model will come with AI feature and will include 32 Google Assistant Commands. The list of features includes new technologies like Vision AI, the company’s solution to Samsung’s Bixby Vision and Google Lens. The company has also given the idea about the improvement it will introduce in the low-light photography on the smartphone by focussing on the areas like brightness control and its adjustments by measuring the levels in the original image. The company is also set to take a move in premium segment flagships by launching more advanced K10 and K8 series smartphones. The K10 smartphone is expected to come with an advanced 13 MP rear shooter similar to LG G6 and a high resolution 8MP front lens that will be supported by Bokeh for clicking perfect selfies. The other features included are Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF)  for 23% faster shoots than traditional autofocus as per the company claims.The phone also comes with a new Smart Rear Key: which performs the task of unlocking the phone with a fingerprint and also activates Quick Shutter for quicker photos and Quick Capture for easy screenshots. Another amazing feature incorporated in K series phone is Flash Jump Shot mode, which clicks a photo every 3 seconds(up to 20 photos) and joins them together to make a GIF for easy sharing- isn’t sound cool and fun? Some favorite features like Auto Shot, Gesture Shot, Flash for Selfie and Quick Share have been included to the new models and it has been ensured by the company that the updated LG K8 model offers more advanced camera UX features with improvements made to the low-light photography mode for brighter and clearer images.

Google

The tech giant Google is expected to come with an Android Garden at MWC 2018. The event is seen as a big occasion where the company will showcase latest Google Assistant-enabled hardware, a sight of which was shown at CES 2018. We’re looking forward to seeing an appearance of Assistant powered Smart Displays as the company is ways away from its next flagship smartphones. Xiaomi

After all the leaks rolling in the market, it is expected that Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will be revealed at MWC. Though the company denies such revelations yet all the users are looking for the big event. Even if the company launches the phone in the Chinese market ahead of the big event, the company may make an appearance with its new flagship phone at MWC. Talking about the specifications, the phone is expected to feature a 5.99-inch bezel-less display, an impressive 95% screen-to-body ratio, a powerful Snapdragon 845 Soc and 8GB RAM.
