Finally, Sony is the first OEM to launch a smartphone running on Android Oreo out of the box. In terms of design, the device looks similar to that of the Sony XZ Premium with a metal unibody design.

The device features a 5.2-inch FHD IPS LCD screen with HDR capability, in fact, this is the first 1080p display to offer HDR on any smartphone. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core SoC, paired with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard storage with a dedicated SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

It looks like Sony is not ready to enter into the dual camera ground, as the device features a single 19 MP rear facing camera (same sensor, that we have seen in the Xperia XZ premium and XZ). The camera does offer 4K video recording capability and super-slow motion videos with 960 fps. The 13 MP front-facing camera with F/2.0 aperture can record native 1080p video with 3o frames per second.

Depending on the region, the device offers active finger print scanner located on the side bezel of the smartphone. Like most of the premium Sony smartphones, the device does offer IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The device runs on Android Oreo out of the box with a custom skin on the top.

The 2700 mAh battery is non-user replaceable with fast charging capability via USB type C port. The device does offer NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi/ac. The device will be available in Moonlit Blue, Venus Pink, Warm Silver, and Black colour options. The device will be available with single or dual SIM card slot depending on the market.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 will be available around the globe by the end of the September 2017. There is no information about the pricing of the device. Other than the latest operating system, literally there is no difference between the XZ and XZ1. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
