Sony India launches their latest flagship smartphone in India. In fact, this is the most affordable premium flagship smartphone in the country. The Xperia XZ1 is priced at INR 44,990 and available from 25th September (today).

The Xperia XZ1 features some of the unique features that are not found on any other smartphones worldwide. In fact, this is the first smartphone to feature Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. The device features metal unibody design (uniflow metal unibody) with continues curve all the way around the smartphone. Internationally, the device available in a variety of colours, but in India, the device will be only available in black colour with dual SIM card slot with 4G LTE and VoLte support.

However, the standards for 2017 flagship smartphone have new norms, in which none of the features are found in the Xperia XZ1. When a person wants to buy a new flagship smartphone shelling out at least INR 40,000 one looks for curved 18:9 aspect ratio display (higher resolution), wireless charging and not to forget the dual-camera setup (present trend). Sony Xperia XZ1 misses all these features. Even the design looks outdated. Even the Apple has rolled out wireless charging on their new line of smartphones, but Sony doesn’tĀ feature that as well. Has Sony lost its charm? You tell us.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 is equipped 5.2-inch with 1080p IPS LCD screen with HRD compatibility protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. All those pixels are driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core flagship processor with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

Like any Sony flagship smartphone, the XZ1 is IP68 certified. In terms of camera, the phone offers the best camera on any smartphone till date. For the first time, this device can record native HD 960 frames per second video footage via 19 MP Exmor sensor. The main camera also offers 5 axial image stabilisation with 4K video recording capability. For the selfie enthusiasts, the device packs a 13 MP front-facing selfie camera with wide angle lens with 1080p video recording capability.

The device features 2700 mAh battery with fast charging (Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 capability) with support for USB OTG. The device also offers NFC for a seamless data transfer between the compatible devices.
