Remember the Palm branded smartphones, if not they were the true competitors against the BlackBerry in early 2000. After the company incurred a heavy loss, the software division of Palm was sold to LG and the hardware division went to TCL (current BlackBerry owner).

According to the TCL marketing manager Stefan Streit, the company is getting ready to re-launch the Palm branded smartphones, however, the device will not be powered by the legendary Palm OS. It looks like Palm devices will be powered by the customised version of the Android operating system, as creating the all new operating system and developing the new eco-system is not an easy task.

Under the TCL, three major smartphones brands will sell their device. Starting with the Alcatel, then legendary BlackBerry and now the Palm joins the league.

Can Palm smartphone re-create the early 2000’s magic and becomes one of the trustable smartphone brands? At what price point will the Palm smartphones will be launched? Let us know in the comments below.
