Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 lockdown has become mandatory for everyone. Many OTT platforms are seeing a big rise during this season. Also, many business works and educational lectures begin to carry out online. Communication apps like Zoom, Google Duo, Google Meet, etc are being used widely.

Makers are of these apps are adding new features to make people use the app effortlessly. In order to help people to connect during this quarantine apps like WhatsApp and Google Duo have released certain updates on their platforms. Earlier, Google duo has increased the group size limit to 12. Also there were rumors that Google is working to add invite links for both video and audio calls.

Also, WhatsApp has increased group video call limit to a maximum of 8 participants. The telegram was not having a group video call feature. Now, the telegram has announced that that group video calling will be added to the platform later this year.

The recent blog post of telegram says “The current global lockdown highlighted the need for a trusted video communication tool. Video calls in 2020 are much like messaging in 2013. There are apps that either secure or usable, but not both. We’d like to fix that, and we will focus on bringing you secure group video calls in 2020”. However, The release date has not been announced by the company.

Increase in users:

Last year at this time, the number of telegram users was 300 million, but now it has reached 400 million. It has become the most downloaded social media application in over 20 countries. The company also says that at least 1.5 million users are signing up for telegram every day. Also, Telegram has released a new update that brings upgrades to its Quiz Mode, adds a new sticker directory to help users browse and search stickers, etc.
