Not much specification is available on the listing, however, the certification reveals that the device supports 5G connectivity. It is speculated that the device will run on the latest version of Android and will be powered by Qualcomm SD 888 SoC.

The tipster had earlier stated that Xiaomi is supposedly working on three foldable smartphones. He had also mentioned the model numbers of the devices: M2102K1AC, M2102K1C, and M2011J18C. With the TENAA listing, it confirms the certification of the first foldable mobile phone from Xiaomi.

Ross Young, CEO of DSCC(Display Supply Chain Consultants) took to his Twitter and shared that Xiaomi is working on three different designs for their foldable phones: in-folding display, out-folding display, and clamshell design. The earlier demonstration revealed that the device will out-folding from both sides. Recently, a report suggested that Xiaomi, along with Google and Oppo, joined hands with Samsung for foldable OLED displays. However, there has been no confirmation from the firm.

All the upcoming foldable devices from Xiaomi are expected to be powered by flagship SD 888 and will run on custom MIUI 12 for the folding form-factor. Further, other speculations include a 108MP primary rear camera and 120Hz refresh rate for the flagship line-up from Xiaomi.

There has been no information regarding the pricing of the devices but the specs suggest that the upcoming smartphones fall in the flagship category.

The foldable smartphone market is small, mainly because of the higher price point, and is currently dominated by Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. Other manufacturers are also introducing their foldable phones. In the future, with other OEMs introducing their foldable devices, it will be an interesting segment.
