EverNote is an app developed for note-making, to write project to-do list, capturing images and many more additional features. It is available free as well as premium versions too. We can share moments with our closed ones and search the notes written inside this app very easily. It is a very useful app, we can use it on any device. As everything existing in the universe have it’s positive and a negative side too. This app also lacks some features. Basic customers using this app can upload only 60MB of data each month while there are several advantages for premium customers. It doesn’t alarm much either only a pop-up is shown. No repeats available for the alarms. It also doesn’t have calendars as such. But there are many apps available in the market similar to and much better than Evernote. So here is the list:-

  1. Google Keep: – Google Keep is the note keeping app developed by Google. As Google is the best I.T. firm existing in this current time, so no doubt Google Keep is the best app one can have for notes. Google Keep allows users to make and store different kinds of notes, to-do list, images, and audios also. This app is free and can be accessible from Android, Web, iOS, and an extension is provided in the Google Chrome for managing notes. Users can set alarms and can categorize notes by using labels. Color-Coded notes are provided in this app. Google Keep is the perfect blend having many features additional to that of Evernote. T.I.M.E. magazine has listed Google Keep among its 50 best Android applications for 2013.
  2. Microsoft OneNote: – Microsoft OneNote is popularly known as Microsoft Office OneNote, is developed by leading operating system company named Microsoft. It is a good app as far as apps are considered for note keeping. OneNote works on any device or platform. It’s easy to manage our content from anywhere, even if we are offline. We can create checklist based notes here using this app. We can take handwritten notes from anywhere and can convert it into typed text later. We can highlight the important information and express ideas with colors or shapes. Also, this features is available to us in a single app which is totally free of cost.
  3. SimpleNote: – SimpleNote is developed by Simperium in 2008. SimpleNote is light, clean and free to use. Its user interface is so easy that anyone can learn and understand it in just a few seconds. It is now available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, Mac and the web. We can backup our notes and run them anytime and anywhere. It offers synchronization through other software too. We can organize our notes using simple tags and share them with others.
  4. WorkFlowy: – Workflowy is an organizational tool that makes our life easier and comfortable. It is simple and a powerful way to write notes. It is the best tool for making notes and lists. It is available on platforms such as Android, iOS, and the web. All notes are a part of the list, which makes it easier to organize and consider on specific topics. It has tags and instant full-text search, which allows it to be a good Evernote alternative.
  5. Quip: – Quip is a collaborative software suitable for mobile and the web. It allows people to create and edit documents while able to communicate with each other who have given the access. It has an innovative text editor on the mobile and attractive user interface that is easy to handle. It allows offline editing of documents which can be sync later when there is an internet connection. We can share files with others via URL. This app is highly compatible as compared to other apps.
  6. Turtl: – This is an open source app which can work on multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android, Chrome, Firefox, and Mac also. It is easy to use and manage notes. This app is highly safe and protected as all the data on it is encrypted and can only be accessed by the key provided to the user. This feature makes it another EverNote alternative.
  7. Org-Mode: – Org-Mode is a note taking tool to be used with Emacs. Its interface is flexible and adaptable with different workflows. Notes and to-do list can be synced with other apps too. We can schedule tasks and assign according to our preferences. It can even compile notes with PDF and HTML files.
  8. Gingko: – It is an online word processor that allows working on structures as well as on content at the same time. It is easy to add thoughts that come to our mind. All formatting in Gingko is done through Markdown. Markdown is an easy way to style text. It allows focusing on a piece of information at a time.  This app is only accessible on the web.
  9. Together: – It is a note keeping app for Mac devices. We can store images, docs, text, movies, audios, web pages and other bookmarks in a convenient easy way. We can access our data through other Mac devices also. It has an impressive user interface and various attractive features. We have to pay an amount to get access through this app.
  10. Trello: – It is a free app and accessible to unlimited users. It has simple and easy to use interface and highly flexible workflow. It is accessible on all modern platforms and cross sync can also be possible. It works well for visual thinkers. It has a Markdown support with rendered images. This app is excellent when we are working with a group of people.
