Uber plans to expand in Singapore and Japan

Uber Technologies is planning on expanding it’s bases to Japan and Singapore. Brooks Entwistle, The Business Officer of the company is working on making this project a reality.

Brooks Entwistle who was the previous chairman of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., is working on bringing the faster booking experience and cheap booking. “I have been given absolute instructions to run and grow the business,”  he said. “That’s what I’m doing, and that’s what I’m going to do.’’

Japan will be focused more by Uber in 2018. Entwistle said that they are trying to crack more than one deal and partnership in Japan. Japan being the largest taxi market in the world, Uber has still not made their base in the country.

The company is working on collaborating with SoftBank. The company said that it will pull out of many Japanese market shares and will put 15 percent stake in Uber. Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi said that the vision of Uber in 2018 is to expand the company “everywhere for everyone.”

“One of the fundamental strengths of Uber is a global scope that we have,” he said. “I would look at Uber very much as a global brand.” Khosrowshahi hasn’t commented anything directly about the political deal with SoftBank. “SoftBank is a very important shareholder, and many of our shareholders have opinions over what’s the right thing to do,” Khosrowshahi said in Davos. “We will have discussions at the board, and we will set a long-term strategy and execute.”
