Uber rides tend to be less expensive than transportation services like taxis. To make it safer, Uber has filed a patent, which says that Uber’s AI will detect for drunk passengers.
Uber Technology Inc. filed a patent for a machine learning application that could accurately predict a user’s state of sobriety and alert the driver with this information. The patent also says that the service Uber provides to the user could change, as a result. Drivers may be warned of their passenger’s state. If the app finds any unusual activity passenger cannot take part in the shared ride.
How it works
Artificial intelligence will learn how you use the Uber app, so it can better spot unusual behavior. Its algorithms depend upon a different number of factors, including typos, walking speed, how precisely you press in-app buttons, and the amount of time it takes, standing on the curb, to order a ride. Uber’s patent also says it could use the technology to deny rides to users based on their current state.
CNN reports that at least 103 Uber drivers in the US, have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing passengers in the last four years, with many of the police reports noting that the passengers were inebriated or had been drinking before getting into the car. Notifying to drivers about the passenger condition will help them a lot.
