Android Messages is Google‘s answer to iMessage and its users just got an exciting news. Now Android Messages users will be able to send messages through their web browsers, giving them a choice to decide where they want to carry on their conversations.

Google launched the “Messages for web” feature on the Android Messages app which will let Android users send messages from any web browsers they choose, it supports all the major web browsers. Even though this facility was already available in iMessage and WhatsApp it will give the android users more options.

Setting up the “Messages for web” for the android users is pretty easy. Here is how you can do it.

  1. Install the latest version of Android Messages from the Play Store.
  2. You will have to make Android Messages as your default messaging app to make it work.
  3. Open “messages.android.com” on your web browser.
  4. Now in your app, click on the top right corner and open the “Messages for web” option.
  5. Click on the “SCAN QR CODE” and point your phone to the QR code opened in your browser.

Now your messages are synced to your web browser and you don’t need to keep peeping into your phone to reply to any message you might receive on your phone. The images can simply be dragged into the web browser to attach and send them. Android Messages users still won’t be able to send word, PDF files or voice messages through the web browser which might be a huge setback for the app considering its competitors already provide those features.

Android Messages has a lot of ground to cover to reach close to its competitors like iMessage and WhatsApp but it has only been a while and it is yet to be seen how it turns out for its users and Google in the long run.
