Walmart has now decided to turn to VR & Oculus to train their Associates
It will deploy around 17,000 Go headsets across the country.
Walmart is also getting into the VR field and has decided upon training their associates with the help of Oculus. Walmart which has around millions of employees will soon be trained in an artificial environment before getting on the real field.
A very widespread training Onboard
Walmart will be deploying 17,000 Oculus Go headsets to almost all of its 5,000 stores. This is an effort to provide its employees with the caliber of training, which the managers receive at the Walmart Academy facilities.
Walmart tried the training with the VR headsets tethered to the PCs, but eventually, the portable Go headsets made the training easier and flexible. The organization has stated to launch its VR training efforts by October, sending 4 headsets to every SuperCenter and 2 to every Neighbourhood Market and Discount Store.

Mr. Andy Trainor explains the training
Walmart US Academies senior director Andy Trainor explained that the method, which uses repeatable and scalable content, is effective because “when you watch a module through the headset, your brain feels like you actually experienced a situation.” He added: “We’ve also seen that VR training boosts confidence and retention while improving test scores 10 to 15 percent — even those associates who simply watched others experience the training saw the same retention boosts.”
The new & high-tech Pickup Towers
The pilot test held during this summer, Walmart used Rift headsets to train the associates on how to operate the company’s new & high-tech Pickup Towers. The retail company will probably be doing the same training for the rest of its employees as the company plans to set up almost 500 of these Pickup Towers by the end of this year.
