Xiaomi India is set for two things on today’s Delhi event. One, the company is all set to upgrade their operating system (from MiUi 8 to MiUi 9) which comes with plenty of interesting features including multi-window, dual apps, and new improved overall user experience.

So, one more thing that we are expecting is the new hardware. The company is all set to launch a new selfie-centric smartphone in India. For the first time in the Indian market, Xiaomi is touting about a selfie-centric smartphone. In fact, their smartphone was never touted to be a selfie camera smartphone. Finally, Xiaomi steps up to take on the brands like Vivo and Oppo, the smartphones that brought the selfie-centric smartphones.

If you are interested in watching the live event, here are the links to follow. Either one can watch live streaming via Mi.com website or Xiaomi’s official YouTube channel. The live event starts at 12:00 PM, and be sure to connect your laptop or smartphone to a high-speed WiFi with a bowl of popcorn on your lap.

Though we predicted that, the company might launch their semi flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3. However, the company has ruled out that, they are not launching any “Note” so, now the only left option is the Entry level Xiaom Redmi Note 5A (considering they the fact that, the company is using Redmi tweeter handle to tweet these things).

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A was launched in China few weeks before for CNY 6,500, 8,500, and 11,500 for the 2 GB, 3 GB, and the 4 GB RAM variant with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB onboard flash storage. The device will be powered by entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Octa-core SoC, paired with the specified amount of RAM. It uses a 5.5-inch HD panel with 2.5D Curved tempered glass on the top.

In terms of camera capability, the device offers a 13 MP rear-facing camera and a massive 16 MP front-facing selfie camera with a front-facing selfie flash. The device packs a slightly bigger 4000 mAh Li-ion battery with normal charging capability via USB type C port.

This might not be the smartphone for those who already own a Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4 or even Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A. However, for the first time buyers, this would be the smartphone they can consider getting. So, let’s see at what price point these devices will be made available in India.
