Xeon D-2100 – Intel’s fastest low-power edge processors

Intel Xeon D2100

Another big roll out this week after the AR-enabled Smart Glasses from Intel, the Intel Xeon D-2100 launches the enterprise-class processors. The Chip jumbo unveils the processor architecture optimized for a system-on-a-chip (SoC) optimized for flexible, scalable, low-power, high-density edge solutions as well as cloud edge solutions.

The Xeon D-2100 series processors line up with as few as 4 cores to 18 cores (8 threads to 36 threads).  The Price of the 18-core Xeon D-2191 is $2,407 as well as the 8-core D-2145NT, at $502. These processors consist of the integrated platform controller hub (PCH) with upto 4 integrated 10-gigabit ports. Depending on the processors the max out frequency is 2.3GHz whereas the maximum turbo boost frequency on a single core is 3.0Ghz. Moreover, along with this Intel presents the additional support for the QuickAssist Technology which is owned by them, the technology delivers up to 100 Gbps of crypto, decryption, and encryption accelerated throughput.

Intel says in a report,

“As network traffic volume and complexity increases, operators must both optimize their infrastructure and increase value-added services to drive revenue.”

These are the highlights of the recent launch:

However, Intel tells that all the benchmarks and all the performance tests it supplied were gathered much before the implementation of recent patches and firmware updates. Eventually, this indicates that these patches are not steady and can lead to change for other updates.
