After so much of hype, the company finally has unveils its first dual camera smartphone In India. In fact, the device will be available outside India as well, including Middle-East, Asia-pacific, Europe and American countries. The launch of Xiaomi Mi A1 marks the debut of Chinese smartphone brand in the dual-camera segment in India.

At an event held in New Delhi, the company announced A1 at a price tag of INR 14,999. Along with featuring a dual-camera set up at the back, the device will also feature 4GB RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. The first sale of Mi A1 will take place on Flipkart on 12th September at 12 PM. Along with being available on Flipkart, the device will also be sold through Mi Home, Xiaomi’s offline retail stores in India. Adding more of an Indian flavour, the company has announced that it will be Made in India.

Along with being the first dual-camera smartphone from Xiaomi, Mi A1 has another unique point. This smartphone will not run on Xiaomi’s flagship MiUi. The company has partnered with AndroidOne to provide pure Android experience to the users. Support of pure Android will mean that the customers buying this smartphone will get frequent OS updates and by the end of 2017, the company is set to push Android Oreo update.

Talking of the other specifications, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 running on Octa Core specifications. This is the same processor which powers Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and Redmi Note 4. The camera, 12 MP combination includes one telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom and a 5 MP selfie camera. The smartphone comes with a full metal body, 2.5D curved glass from Corning gorilla, fingerprint sensor, 5.5-inch FHD display and 3080 mAh battery.

The smartphone comes with USB Type C sensor for connectivity and charging. 3.5mm audio jack is coupled with 10V smart PA to provide high-quality audio performance. Dual SIM hybrid setup supports 4G VoLTE.

With these specifications and a proven history in camera performance, Xiaomi seems to have presented a strong case in the mid-range smartphone segment. The smartphone will compete with the likes of Lenovo K8 Note, Huawei Honor 6X, Motorola G5s Plus, Coolpad Cool 6 Play etc.
