Xiaomi China has launched a new toned down version of the Xiaomi Mi Note 3, with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage for CNY 1,999 only (which roughly translates for ₹19,999). Except for the change in the amount of RAM, the remaining tech specifications are kept intact.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a bigger and cheaper version of the Xiaomi Mi 6, with slightly large footprints. Instead of the 5.1-inch screen like the Mi 6, the Xioami Mi Note 3 features a standard 5.5-inch full HD 1080p IPS LCD panel, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass on the top. Even the back case is engraved from the same tempered 2.5D curved glass, which gives the smartphone a more premium looks and a pleasing aesthetics.

If we look at the original model, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 featured 6 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage or 6 GB RAM and 128 GB onboard flash storage, priced at CNY 2,299 and 2,599 respectively (₹22,999 and ₹25,999). None of these models features an SD card slot, so, one has to make their choice very carefully.

Looking at the actual tech specifications, the smartphone is powered by top of the tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Octa-core SoC, which is the second best Android Mobile Platform available, paired with either 4 GB or 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64 GB or 128 GB onboard flash storage.

With respect to connectivity, the smartphone offers a dual SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte support on both the SIM slots with additional features like support for dual channel WiFi, WiFi Hotpot and Bluetooth 5.0 out of the box.

Coming to the camera capability, the dual rear-camera on the back has a dual 12 MP RGB sensor, one being a wide angle shooter and a telephoto lens, which offers X2 optical zoom, portrait mode, and 4K video recording capability. For the selfie camera, the smartphone offers 16 MP selfie camera with 1080p video recording capability. So, with respect to the camera capabilities, this smartphone has the best bet in the market.

In terms of operating system, the device runs on Android Nougat 7.1.2 with custom MIUI version 9 on the top with a promised update for Android Oreo in the near future. Finally, the smartphone features a 3500 mAh Li-ion battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port, with no external 3.5 mm headphone jack what so ever. The device does offer some sort of water resistance, which should keep the smartphone safe from the accidental hazards.

The only way to get this smartphone is to import it from China, as this smartphone is not officially available in India.
