Xiaomi is all set to launch the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi 4A AKA Xiaomi Redmi 5A, which is the cheapest offering from the company. A recently leaked advertising sheet gives the idea about the upcoming smartphone. From the first look, one can see that the device follows a similar design language with all plastic design solution (with a golden colour paint job).

So, the device might follow similar form factor with upgraded internals like camera, processor, storage and display. So, let’s encapsulate the tech specifications of the same. Though the newspaper listing doesn’t say much, however, it does say that the device offers 8 days standby battery, which is the best (at least on paper). Let’s look at the technical specifications of the same.

As its predecessor was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, one can expect the same SoC here as well. In terms of RAM and ROM, the device will offer either 2 GB or 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (probably a hybrid solution (SIM + SIM) or (SIM + SD card) with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots.

In terms of camera capability, the device is most likely to offer a 13 MP rear-facing main camera with single tone LED flash along with 720p video recording capability. On the front, the device is likely to include a 5 MP fixed focus selfie shooter with beauty mode, which enhances the overall selfie-taking experience. The device doesn’t offer features like a fingerprint scanner, or any other fancy features.

In terms of battery, the device offers a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery with 10W fast charging capability via micro USB port. In terms of operating system, the device offers Android Nougat 7.0 with MiUi version 9 out of the box. One might think that the Xiaomi Redmi 5A offers bit outdated processor. But, for the price tag of $100 (INR 6,000), this will be the most powerful smartphone that will be available at this price point.

However, if you already own a Xiaomi Redmi 4A, then purchasing this device doesn’t make any sense. So, according to Xiaomi cycle, the company will officially announce the smartphone in November in China. However, the device might be made available in India in early 2018.
