Xiaomi India has launched a new cool entry-level Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite Android smartphone, which can be a direct threat to the recently announced Nokia 2. Just like the original Xiaomi Redmi Y1, the Redmi Y1 Lite features a brushed metal unibody plastic design with few missing features from its elder sibling.

Both Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite will be available via Amazon India (initially) and then by the latter part of the year, the device will be available across all the major retails stores and Mi preferred stores. Here are the complete details of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite.

In terms of display, the device borrows the 5.5-inch 720p IPS LCD panel from the original Redmi Y1, protected by the same 2.5D Curved Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. Under the hood, the device is powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Quad-core SoC, paired with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB onboard storage with a dedicated micro SD card and a dual nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots.

In terms of camera capability, the device offers a 13 MP rear-facing camera with PDAF and autofocus capability. For the selfie, the device has been toned down to a 5 MP shooter with 720p video recording capability. The operating system on the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite is up to date with latest Android Nougat 7.1.2 with MiUi 9 skin on the top. Additional features like an infrared sensor which can be used to control the third party electronic gadgets will come to your rescue (in case if you cant find the remote control).

Even the battery remains the same compared to the Y1, the 3080 mAh Li-ion battery will support normal charging capability with USB OTG support. The device is priced at ₹6,999 and it is targeted towards those, who are planning to a smartphone for the first time in their lifetime.
