Xiaomi, the brand which is called as the Chinese Apple is currently available in most of the Asian countries. As a matter of fact, within last 30 days, the company has shipped more than 10 million smartphones worldwide making it a new record.

Now, the mobile internet (MI) is all set to debut in the USA with an entry-level Android smartphone. According to FCC listing, the company is planning to introduce their newest and affordable Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A in the United States with the model number “MDG6S”.

However, Xiaomi might find difficulty in selling a stand-alone smartphone, as in the US most of the customers buy a phone with a carrier plan (including complementary data, voice and text messages). As the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime is expected to be priced at $150 (INR 12,000) it’s really interesting to see the acceptance of the same.

Coming to the tech specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Redmi Note 5A Prime will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD panel with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. Under the hood, the device will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Octa-core SoC, paired with either 3 GB or 4 GB RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot.

On to the optics, the device is likely to offer a 13 MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording capability along with a dual-tone dual LED flash. On the exact opposite, the device is likely to offer an 8 MP front-facing selfie shooter with a dedicated LED flash.

In terms of connectivity, the device is expected to feature dual SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability. As the device is launching in China, it is expected to offer all the 4G LTE bands that are supported in the USA. In terms of operating system, the device is expected to feature Android Nougat with custom MIUI version 9 on the top with support for Google Play services including Play Store and Google accounts. The device will also feature a fingerprint scanner, a big 4000 mAh battery, metal unibody design as well.

To conclude, developing countries like India and China have already accepted and appreciated the Xiaomi Mi for their high-quality and low pricing strategy. It’s very interesting to see, how will the US smartphone consumers accept the Xiaomi Mi Redmi Note 5A or in fact the whole brand? What do you think about this move? Will they succeed? One has to remember the recent fiasco by LeEco Le, which launched a wide range of smartphone in the United States and failed to impress the audience.
