In a bid to counter Reliance Jio’s growing user base, Airtel has announced a lucrative offer for the buyers of Micromax canvas 2. According to the new offer, users buying latest Micromax smartphone will get 4G data and voice calls free for a year.
The voice calls and data however, will be limited. The users will get 1GB of 4G data everyday and 600 minutes of voice calling every month. There was no comment about the data after the consumption of daily 1GB limit though.
Micromax has allocated a budget of ₹52 crores for marketing of the latest smartphone and along with the offer from Airtel, the company is expecting to revive its fortunes of lost marketshare to Chinese players. In the next 6 months, Micromax plans to sell at least a million canvas 2 devices.
Along with Micromax, Airtel too is struggling to retain customers after an aggressive launch by Reliance Jio. After providing 6 months of free service to its users, the company has launched very affordable tariffs. This has resulted in a decreased revenue of the telecom sector in India and the market looks to see some more competition in the coming time.
