Rohm, a Japanese semiconductor company has claimed that Reliance Jio is accelerating India’s 4G growth rate. It has also declared Jio as the fastest in the world. Globally the 4G service has been launched much before the release in India but Jio has done his part of driving 4G usage in India through their freebies services.
Jio was launched in September 2016, and it has attracted more than 100 million subscribers to its IP-based pan-India network in just a span of two-quarters.
Nakamura, Managing Director of Rohm said that with broadband in India is limited to cities and not spreading as fast as anticipated, 4G is the best bet for non-urban areas, where the 2G and 3G infrastructure needs only be upgraded. While adding plans to showcase Jio’s wireless portfolio, he said: “The whole country can be digitally connected by using 4G, which is the India mission for a Smart Nation”.
Rohm offers digital power solutions to mobile base stations which include Nokia, Ericsson, and Huawei as its major customers. Rohm works for design centers of top tier-1 mobile phone makers, including Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo.
