TRAI

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, (TRAI) today said that it is working on an app, which will ask users to rate the service quality of a call once completed. This all will be available as an integrated SIM service and users will receive a pop up as soon as a call is disconnected. TRAI, however, did not clarify whether this service will be voluntary or compulsory.

Along with this, TRAI is also working on making DND service better. This is to ensure that the users who have opted for ‘Do Not Disturb’ service will not be bothered by telemarketers.

TRAI Chairman RS Sharma was speaking at an event to commemorate 20 years of service of TRAI. He said that to ensure better call quality and to receive instant feedback, TRAI is implementing an app which will ask for the feedback about the quality of call. This will be done as soon as the call is disconnected. Based on the feedback, TRAI will felicitate further action.

He also spoke about the growing tussle between Reliance Jio and other telecom operators. Last year, TRAI had slapped a fine of ₹3500 crore on Idea, Airtel and Vodafone for not allowing enough interconnection points to Jio. The report was forwarded to DoT. Department of Telecom however, sent the report back to TRAI and asked for the clarification on how the fine amount was calculated.
