eSIM support has been introduced by Vodafone Idea  for its postpaid customers residing in Mumbai, Gujarat and Delhi. eSIM supported handset is present with users now to avail of this service.

Embedded Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM) refers to a digital SIM which allows users to use a postpaid number without a physical SIM. The Vodafone postpaid SIM profile will get automatically downloaded or installed on the eSIM after the users successfully completes the whole process of converting existing SIM to eSIM.

As per the reports of NDTVthe handsets which support eSIM features are Apple iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR. For Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Fold users too, the service will soon be rolled out the company said.

In India, the Airtel and Reliance Jio are the only telecom service providers which offered people the facility of eSIM.

According to the Hindu Business Line, to activate eSIM support, subscribers have to SMS ‘eSIM registered email id’ to 199. Followed by this the subscribers, will receive a confirmation SMS. In the next step, they need to reply with “ESIMY” to confirm the change request of  eSIM.

Consent over a call would be asked after this, which would be notified to the subscribers through a message. Regarding the QR code, then they will the receive a final SMS.

Subscribers will receive the  QR Code  on registered email id. Followed by this, users need to scan the code by going to the option of Settings and clicking on the ‘Add Data Plan’ from the ‘Mobile Data’ in order to complete the activation of  their eSIM.
