IRCTC to run Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra tour package under “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will run the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra tour package under “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative, covering some of the prominent sites associated with the life of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

In April 2023, the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra will set off from New Delhi. The Ministry of Railways and Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) are running Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains on several theme-based circuits around India as part of the “Dekho Apna Desh” campaign.

The proposed seven nights and eight days Bharat Gaurav Tourist train tour starts from Delhi and the first halt is Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) in Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Baba Saheb (Bhim Janam Bhoomi). Then the train moves to Nagpur railway station where tourists proceed to visit Deekshabhoomi, a consecrated monument of Navayana Buddhism.

The train departs from Nagpur for Sanchi. The sightseeing of Sanchi includes visits to the eponymous stupa and other Buddhist sites. Varanasi is the next stop after Sanchi, and a trip to Sarnath and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is also included. The tourists will then be transported to Gaya, the last stop before arriving at the sacred site of Bodhgaya to see the well-known Mahabodhi Temple and other monasteries. The other significant Buddhist sites, Rajgir and Nalanda, would also be accessible by road. The tour will finally terminate at New Delhi. Tourists will have the option to board and de-board the train at Delhi, Mathura and Agra Cantt stations.

The main architect of the Indian Constitution was Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, sometimes known as “Baba Saheb.” Besides, he was also an eminent jurist, political activist, anthropologist, author, orator, historian, writer, economist and scholar.  Ambedkar campaigned for the rights of the socially oppressed groups throughout his life and worked to remove social ills like untouchability.

Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train launch is in line with the Government of India initiative “Dekho Apna Desh” to promote special interest circuits in domestic tourism. All information on the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra, a special interest train package, is accessible on the IRCTC website, which also operates the train.
