Fitbit in its spring product event in March announced two big features coming to its smartwatches.

  • Quick replies

  • Female health tracking

These two features will make Versa and Ionic more compelling. The quick reply feature is currently exclusive to users or Versa and Ionic with an Android phone.

The quick reply feature allows the users to text, tweets, WhatsApp, and more using five pre-loaded messages. The options you get for quick reply are –

  • Yes
  • NO
  • Sounds good!
  • Can’t talk now, will reply later.
  • Whats up?

These messages can be changed according to users wish and can be set to a user desired text upto60 characters.

You can have your five default replies no matter what notification you receive, but Fitbit allows you to go an extra mile by customizing these five replies on a per-app basis. In other words, the Quick Replies you use for texts can be different from the ones you use for a Twitter notification.

Along with text, you can also include emojis that you can send as a reply, Also the notifications you receive will sync with your phone, Therefore clearing a notification from your watch clears it from your phone, and vice versa. With this feature handling your notifications becomes easy.

Coming to Female tracking option, Fitbit’s rolling this out on-device for all Ionic and Versa users, as well as the Fitbit mobile app for Windows and iOS (it’ll be available on Android “later this month”). Fitbit users that identify as female and are 13-years-old and over will automatically have access to the service. Else, it can manually be enabled by tapping the Edit button at the bottom of your Dashboard.

With female health tracking, users can log information about their periods to get estimations on when their next period will begin, when they’ll be fertile, etc.

Lastly, Fitbit is also releasing new apps and clock faces that all aim to help people live a healthier life. These are all available in the Fitbit App Gallery. Some of the highlights being Walgreens, One Drop, Diplomat Pharmacy Inc., and Fitabase.
