The 3-0 victory in state assembly elections of Hindi heartland states is one of the biggest political achievements of Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. The victory not only important in terms of state politics but also make an easy for Congress to reach out its allies vis-à-vis the Next Year Lok Sabha Battle.

In a Nail-bitter in Madhya Pradesh, Congress emerges as Largest party with 114 seats in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, BJP on second with 109 seats. The BSP, SP, and Independent ended with 2, 1 and 4 respectively.

With Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati extending its support to Congress, it is now clear that next government in the state will be of Congress. Mayawati while extending its support said ‘Even though we don’t agree with many of Congress’s policies we have agreed to support them in Madhya Pradesh [to keep BJP away from power] and if need be in Rajasthan.

In the meanwhile, outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigns from his post. After tendering resignation, Shivraj Singh Chouhan says he is free now; says responsibility for defeat in Madhya Pradesh Elections is ‘totally his’. He said as quoted by ANI: “Shivraj Singh Chouhan: Ab mein mukt hoon, I am free. I have tendered my resignation to the honourable Governor. The responsibility of defeat is totally mine. I have congratulated Kamal Nath ji”

Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza said, “Kamal Nath will meet former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan at 1 pm as a courtesy visit. The party will have a meeting of MLAs at 4 pm. AK Antony is going to MP as party observer and after that, the party will speak to Congress president Rahul Gandhi”.

If sources to be believed, Kamal Nath will be the next Chief Minister in the state, as Jyotiraditya Scindia also backs him. Congress State Chief Kamal Nath reaches Raj Bhawan to meet Governor Anandiben Patel.
