Washington DC, May 31: A caravan-seized group of over 1,000 people has been taken into federal custody on Wednesday in western Texas after caught illegally crossing the border entering to the United States, marking the largest group which border patrol has taken into custody at one time.

According to Sputnik news reports, border patrol agents have encountered around 1,036 migrants, primarily from Central America near to Texas’s El Paso on early Wednesday, according to a senior border patrol agent.

The group has included 63 children travelling without their guardian and a parent, another 29 people were single adults, and the left 934  people claimed to be travelling with family members.

However, it was yet not clear whether the detained group came from the Northern triangle nations as part of a caravan, though it is likely given that the detainees were not moving from Mexico to the US through the southern border.

Border patrol team has stated human smugglers had often overseen the illegal immigration at the border and used the group to distract the federal law enforcement.

Until Wednesday, the largest group which has arrived at once had included more than 430 individuals.

The overall numbers of undocumented immigrants crossing the southern border both illegally and legally by crossing between two ports of entry, in recent times, have been skyrocketed.
