Yibin, June 18: An earthquake measuring 6.0 magnitudes on the Ritcher scale on Monday rattled southwest Chinese province of Sichuan.

The epicenter of the earthquake which has occurred at around 10:55 pm (local time) was approximately at a depth of 16 km, as per the reports of the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC).

According to ANI news reports, rescue efforts were made and still underway. The Chinese ministry of emergency management also activated an “emergency response”, as well as, sent a workgroup to provide proper guidance in disaster and rescue relief, to the affected regions.

State-run Xinhua news agency has reported a major highway with other several roads in the province of Sichuan have been shut as the result of the earthquake.

The province was struck with a series of aftershock – the largest which had about 5.3 magnitudes.

Moreover, some 11 people were found reportedly dead, including other 122 sustained wounded after the quake on Monday night.
