6.1 magnitudes earthquake jolts Hokkaido, second largest island of Japan

Hokkaido, August 29: A powerful earthquake of measuring 6.1 magnitudes on the Ritcher Scale on Thursday morning jolted Hokkaido province of Japan.

In a tweet, IMD Earthquake said, “Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 29-08-2019, 05:16:37 IST, Lat:41.1 N & Long: 142.9 E, Depth: 10 Km, Region: Hokkaido, Japan Region.”

The tremor occurred at a 10-kilometre depth, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). It also said there were no immediate reports of casualties due to the heavy earthquake.
