A powerful magnitude of 6.4 earthquake has struck off Sumbawa Island of Indonesia, but no tsunami warning has been issued and also there were no immediate reports regarding any damage due to the earthquake.

On Tuesday, the tremor followed a pair of off-shore quakes in the same region including one quake with a magnitude of about 6.1 stuck off south of the city of Raba. According to the United States geological survey, the latest earthquake struck the 85 km south of the town of Kahale.

According to Al-Jazeera news reports, the epicenter was about 80 miles northeast of the islands main city of Mataram and was very shallow, which would have amplified its effect.

The earthquake was on the group and didn’t trigger any waves or tsunami, though the Indonesian authorities issued a yellow alert. Indonesia country is prone to earthquakes because of its location on the Pacific “ring of fire”.
