New York, Sep 24: United States President Donald Trump again offered to mediate between Pakistan and India on the Kashmir issue on Monday ahead of his bilateral meeting with Pak’ Prime Minister Imran Khan in New York on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.

During the bilateral meeting between Trump and Khan, the US president said he was “ready, willing, and able” to mediate between two nuclear Asian nation if India and Pakistan both are willing to.

“I trust Pakistan … Want to see everyone treated well in Kashmir … I have a very good relation with Prime Minister Modi. I have a very good relationship with Prime Minister Khan. If they both say ‘we have a point to iron out’, I will be ready to do it,” Trump told reporters, with Imran Khan along his side. “I think I’d be an extremely good arbitrator,” he added.

On Sunday, addressing more than 50,000 Indian-Americans at the NRG Stadium in Houston at “Howdy, Modi!” event, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at Pakistan, saying they use to give safe haven to terrorists and organizations. Modi said the time has come to fight against terrorism around the world. He underscored, in this battle, Trump is standing with us and is willing to fight against terrorism.

A few weeks ago, the Indian government removed Article 370 from the Indian constitution, removing a special status given to Jammu and Kashmir people.

He had said Jammu and Kashmir people were deprived of development and terrorist were misusing the special status. He hailed the removal of Article 370 and said J&K and Ladhak, now have the same rights as all states have in India.

Earlier too, Trump had offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue between New Delhi and Islamabad post Pulwama terror attack. However, India reiterated its refusal to such offer, saying Kashmir issue is a bilateral matter between two Asian neighbours.
