At a gathering in Houston on Friday, business and political leaders emphasized the bilateral economic cooperation between China and the United States.

At an officials gathering in the US state of Texas, in Houston, more than 300 business executive and officials of American companies and Chinese attended the third annual gala and award ceremony of China General Chamber of Commerce-Houston (CGCC-Houston).

According to news reports, while delivering a speech, Chinese consul general in Houston Li Qiangmin said the US and China will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the initiation of their diplomatic relations.

Qiangmin said, “Facts have proven that cooperation is the best option for both sides, and win-win can lead to a better future.” He also encouraged the business community of China situated in the US to expand its business in the US and fulfill their needs and social responsibilities.

President and CEO of George H.W. Bush Foundation for US-China Relations David J. Firestein said his organizations wanted to have an “advance a constructive vision for the relationship that is focused on action solving real problems.”

David said: “Despite real differences, the United States and China actually do have much in common and much to work on together,” further adding the business community and organizations in China and the US would lead a fresh way to get China-US relationship “back to where it needs to be for both countries to proper and benefit from it”.

At the annual gala, Sanhua international Inc. shared the Outstanding Community Champion Award and PetroChina International (America) Inc. won the Outstanding Member Award. Ernst & Yong. Satellite Petrochemical USA Corp. and China Communications Construction (USA) Inc. were given an awards for the Most Influential Company of the 2018.
