Speaker of Bangladesh parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary has said on Thursday that India and Bangladesh shared an unparalleled and special relationship.

According to ANI news reports, Chaudhary, who has visited New Delhi on Thursday for a one-day official visit, told ANI: “Bangladesh and India are neighbours and friends and we believe that discussions, negotiations, dialogues are the ways through which any issue can be resolved. We enjoy a very good relationship, very good friendship and we think it will grow stronger in the coming days.”

Chaudhary stressed over cooperation in sectors such as power generation, energy, commerce and trade with India. She said that “we want this to be a win-win situation for the people of both the countries.”

As Bangladesh was working towards achieving a “Developing Country” status by 2024, she hoped for additional assistance from India.

Chaudhary said her country has just celebrated our independence day on March 26 and fondly “remembered and recognized” the support that India, its government and people has given to them.

She said the regional cooperation aspect was very much in the forefront now. She said, “This constructive and fruitful partnership is the dimension of relationship that is gaining a lot of importance.”
