A new addition to the Tagore Museum in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, is the Bangladesh Bhawan, which is set to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina herself on the 25th of May. During her stay in West Bengal for the two-day visit, Sheikh Hasina is expected to meet with PM Narendra Modi and CM Mamata Banerjee to discuss various political issues including the Teesta river agreement.

There is, however, no official reason for the planned date of the meeting being on the 25th of May other than the fact that PM Modi is expected to be in West Bengal during that week to attend the convocation of the Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan where he had been traditionally appointed as the Chancellor. On the event of the conference, the Bangladeshi PM is expected to confirm the benefits of the Teesta water dispute case to Bangladesh before the deal is finally clinched. With the upcoming Bangladesh elections, there is immense pressure on Sheikh Hasina to ensure the Teesta deal in order to maintain her majority support in the country.

After the inauguration of the esteemed Bangladesh Bhawan, PM Sheikh is set to visit the city of Asansol on the 26th of May to participate in the summit of the Kazi Nazrul University where she will receive an honorary doctorate. Sheikh Hasina is set to be accompanied during her journey by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, despite the fact that no upcoming formal discussions between the two have yet been publicized.
