The Brazilian government will provide humanitarian aid by setting up a collection centre for Venezuela in the northern border city of Boa Vista in coming few days, the Venezuelan opposition envoy to Brasilia reported on Tuesday.

According to news reported by Reuters, Maria Teresa Belandria, who has been known as Venezuela’s special envoy by the Brazilian government, said that she will be holding a meeting with Brazilian defence minister on Wednesday in order to talk logistics for getting supplies of humanitarian aids from Brazil, the United States and possibly Canada to Boa Vista.

However, Maria said there will be no military involvement in providing the aid to the border into Venezuela, but only Venezuelan citizens will be involved if and when medical and food supplies are taken up across.

She further called on the Venezuelan military forces supporting nation’s elected president Nicolas Maduro to let the humanitarian aid in, which the opposition Juan Guaido has supported and initiated the plan to send in aids via border from Caribbean, Brazil and Colombia.

While leading a small anti-Maduro protest in Brasilia, she told reporters, “I call on the National Guard, the Army, Air Force and Navy to allow the humanitarian aid into the country. The Venezuelan people need it, even families of the military.”
