Russian embassy said on Friday, that Russia’s and Britain’s government have finally reached to an agreement to make some of their embassy staffs return back to their respective embassies in January, a move taken after they had expelled dozens of diplomats earlier this year.
No further comments were fetched from both the British foreign office and the Russian foreign ministry.
According to news reports, Russian ambassador to Britan Alexander Yakovenko, in a TV interview, said: “We have reached a general agreement that we will start to restore diplomatic staff in Moscow and in London some time in January.”
Russian ambassador further said: “I am not sure that this would happen to all employees but at least half the staff would be in place.”
Nevertheless, a spokesperson of the embassy confirmed the above remarks made by Alexander Yakovenko.
According to earlier news reports, London had expelled around 23 of Russian diplomats over an accusations that the Kremlin has backed and was behind a severe toxin attack on former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the month of March, in the city of Salisbury in Britain.
In response to Britain’s move of returning diplomats back to home, Russia, which denied all the accusation of its part in the attack, returned back the same number of British embassy workers to London.
