In a bid to push for strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two nations – China and Pakistan, Beijing has said on Monday that around 20,000 Pakistani students will be provided with Chinese scholarships every year – the highest rate for any nation in the world.

According to ANI news reports, the Chinese envoy to Islamabad Yao Jing has made this announcement on Monday saying that it would further bolster the friendly ties between the two countries.

The News International has quoted Jing as saying, “It is the people who matter in a relationship”, at the “China-Photo Exhibition” which was held at the NUST (National University of Science and Technology” in Pakistan.

While stating the multi-billion dollar CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) as the “long-term project”, the Chinese ambassador said both Islamabad and Beijing have reached a consensus and that the next step of their project would aim at investment, cooperation in the power sectors and exports, establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs, and joint ventures.

Envoy further states the second area of focus for their bilateral cooperation in the CPEC project was the social sector, further adding the key areas were human resources, poverty reduction, agriculture, health and educations.
