China has on Wednesday offered Venezuela help and support to restore its power grid after the Venezuelan president accused the United States President Donald Trump of a cyber “sabotage” that has plunged the South Latin American nation into the worst blackout in the record.

According to Reuters news reports, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who retains state institutions and security as well as has been backed by China and, has blamed the US for his country’s economic crisis and also denounced opposition Venezuelan leader Juan Guaido as a “puppet of the United States”.

With the power blackout in its sixth day, hospitals struggled to keep equipment running, food rotted in the tropical heat and exports from the country’s main oil terminal were shut down.

While speaking in Beijing, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Lu Kang has said China had noted the reports that the power grid had gone down due to some hacking attack.

“China is deeply concerned about this,” Lu said.

Lu said, “China hopes that the Venezuelan side can discover the reason for this issue as soon as possible and resume normal power supply and social order. China is willing to provide help and technical support to restore Venezuela’s power grid.”

According to social media and witnesses, the power had returned to many parts of the nation on Tuesday, including several areas that had not had electricity since last Thursday.

Maduro has blamed Washington for organising what he said was a sophisticated cyber attack on Venezuela’s hydroelectric power operations.
