Cory Booker, the United States democratic senator from New Jersey, has announced on February 1 its bid in US 2020 presidential election, and also initiated election campaign by posting a video on Twitter for his supporters, the local media has reported on Friday.

“We are better when we help each other,” CBS News, American broadcasting channel, quoted Booker as saying.

According to news reports CBS News reports, the Democratic senator Booker will be the second African American candidate to run the bid for the White House, following Kamala Harris, Senator from California, who has also launched her campaign on January 28 in Oklahoma against the US President Donald Trump.

While launching his campaign, Booker said: “I believe that we can build a country where no one is forgotten, no one is left behind; where parents can put food on the table; where there are good paying jobs with good benefits in every neighborhood; where our criminal justice system keeps us safe, instead of our leaders of shuffling more children into cages and coffins; where we see the faces of our leaders on television and feel pride.”

On Friday’s morning, Booker discussed his election campaign on the local radio networks with his supporters, comprising of the Latinos and blacks.

His announcement came on the first day of the Black-History month which is also known as African-American History monthly, observed annually in Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands, as a way in order to remember special events and people in the history of the African diaspora in the US.

In the video released on Friday, Booker said: “The history of our nation is defined by collective action; by interwoven destinies of slaves and abolitionists; of those born here and those who chose America as home; of those who took up arms to defend our country, and those who linked arms to challenge and change it.”

Booker is expected to visit Lowa on February 8 and will then campaign in New Hampshire and South Carolina on the president’s day weekend.
