President Donald Trump stood in his position as the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces on the 28th of May, as he assembled near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier along with many other veterans and military leaders, to mourn for the dead as part of the Memorial Day ceremony. As the President laid a wreath upon the tombs of the Arlington National Cemetery, he wished all the souls who rested within the hallowed fields and the battlefields peace, and prayed that they were all united now by their love towards the United States of America. President Trump also honored the families who were left behind and declared that everybody who fought and died for America, did so because they believed that the Star Spangled Banner was worth fighting for.

Before the ceremony, President Donald Trump had posted a tweet on his official Twitter account, containing a few lines of consolation where he wrote that all those who had died so that the current generation could exist, would have been proud of the legacy the US was creating now. However, the following tweet he had made after the ceremony was over brought in much more criticism for the President that he could not have seen coming.

In the aforementioned tweet, President Donald Trump set out on a self-congratulatory parade where he boasted about creating having created the best economy the US had seen in ages. He even ended the tweet with a “Nice!” which was immediately judged.

Many military officials compared his tweet to that of other politicians, including the former President Barack Obama, who wrote an emotional passage which connected with every American citizen, definitely more than a ‘nice’.

Even Martin Dempsey, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Obama administration quoted his tweet by saying that they had expected better than to see President Donald Trump make the Memorial Day, of all day, about his personal achievements.
