Drone attack Pakistan US

According to the Urdu news channel, Dawn- Haqqani Network Commander Ehsan alias Khawari and two of his associates were reportedly killed by a drone attack at Kurram Agency which falls under Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Northwest Pakistan.

Two missiles were reportedly fired from the drone at the house where the commander stayed in Speen Thall area – on the confluence of borders between Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai agency.

The drone strike took place after a militant attack Saturday on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul in which 22 people were killed, 14 of which were foreign nationals and there were even some U.S. citizens among those killed and wounded, the State Department reported on Tuesday.

The Taliban took responsibility for sending five suicide bombers to administer the deadly attack. But Afghan authorities accused the Taliban-allied Haqqani network of planning the violent operation.

The U.S. believes Haqqanis are based out of Pakistan, and it suspended huge monetary sums of military aid to the country until it prevents the terrorists from undertaking attacks in Afghanistan.

The reports accuses US to be behind the drone attacks, especially after US President Donald Trump’s Afgan Policy announcement in which Pakistan has been accused of providing a safe hostage to terrorists on the Pakistan soil. This accusation has repeatedly been refuted by the Pakistan government who argue that they have always tried to maintain hostile environments for such anti social elements. “Pakistan has also been stressing the need of early repatriation of Afghan refugees as their presence in Pakistan helps Afghan terrorists to melt and morph among them,” the Foreign Ministry statement quoted.

Although, US has denied administrating these attacks, it is important to note that such attacked aren’t unheard of and the Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was also killed in one of such strikes in 2016.
