Beijing [China], August 13: Indian external affairs minister S Jaishankar along with Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister, jointly unveiled the “India-China Film Week” on Monday in Beijing in a bid to bolster cultural activities and people-to-people relationships between the two nations.
According to ANI news reports, the initiatives marked the inauguration of 100 activities in the fields of film, broadcasting, cultural, education, among others in the coming months. China and India have on Monday inked four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
The two sides agreed to enhance cultural exchanges for the organization of cultural activities in both nations, management of archaeological heritage hubs, and preservation of the intangible cultural heritage.
The announcement regarding the same was made by Jaishankar at a joint media conference with his counterpart Yi in Beijing following the second conference of India-China High-level mechanism (HLM) on people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
They also agreed to promote cooperation in the sector of traditional medicine, where both nations have richly accumulated the knowledge over centuries, with objectives of enhancing the development of these medicines in both countries’ system of healthcare.
The conference was held to set a common ground for the second informal summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese leader Xi Jinping later this year.
Jaishankar has visited Beijing on a three-day official visit, marking the first state visit to China since assuming the office as the Indian foreign minister.
