A preliminary report over an Ethiopian Airlines crash is likely to be released this week, the nation’s transport ministry has said on Tuesday, as Boeing is preparing to brief additional airlines on training and software updates on the 737 MAX.

According to Reuters news reports, the grieving families of victims of crash and aviation industry anxiously waiting for details from the Ethiopia-led probe. Boeing came under intense scrutiny since the March 10 crash marking it as the second attack in five months which involved its new 737 MAX 8 model.

The investigation is focused on the MAX software into two of the crashes, one in Ethiopia and previous crash in Indonesia last year, which has claimed the lives of about 346 people.

Boeing is, this week, briefing the airlines over software and training updates for the MAX, with more than 200 global technical experts, airlines pilots as well as regulators due in Washington’s Renton, where aircraft are being built.

Ethiopia’s transport ministry spokesperson who is leading the probe in Addis Ababa told Reuters the expected reports are likely to be released this week, also cautioning “there could be unpredictable things” and declined to give further details.

The development has come a day after Ethiopian Airlines Chief Executive Officer Tewolde Gebremariam said he expected the preliminary report to be released this week or next week.
