Former United States vice president Joe Biden has raised around USD 6.3 million on the first day of launching his election campaign for the 2020 presidential election against President Donald Trump, Biden’s campaign said on Friday.

According to ANI news reports, Biden’s first day of fundraising program has surpassed totals of the first-day of all his rivals, also including ex-Republican candidate Beto O’Rourke’s previous record, who had raised around USD 6.1  million in the first day after launching his candidacy in March.

76-year-old Biden has on Thursday announced his decision running for the 2020 US presidential election for the third time. So far, he received 107,431 online donations from about 96,926 individuals in the first 24 hours.

Biden’s deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said, “It is crystal clear from the last 24 hours that Americans are ready for dignified leadership, someone who can restore the soul of the nation, rebuild the middle class so everyone gets a fair shot and unite the country behind the core values we all believe in,” adding, “That person is Joe Biden, and today’s announcement demonstrates Americans agree.”

Biden’s announcement has signalled the core message of his election campaign that Trump’s ruling “has left the country in a state of crisis”.

On April 20, Biden planned to announce his bid running for 2020 US presidential election via video, citing sources close to Biden, the Atlantic had reported.

The announcement will be followed by months of speculations on whether Biden would launch his party’s bid for the presidential election, challenging Trump in 2020, according to Dawn news reports.
