Amid controversy of killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on October 2, in Istanbul, the French foreign ministry on Thursday, imposed sanctions against 18 citizens over the matter of Khasoggi’s murder.

In a released statement, the ministry said “these measures … aim to prohibit these indivisuals from entering national territory and the entire Schengen areas” of Europe country.

It further stated: “They are conservative measures, subject to review or extension based on the findings of the investigation under way.”

Saudi Arabia has undertaken 21 people into the custody imposing death penalties against five men. Due to this grisly murder of Khasoggi’s, international pressure has been mounted on Riyadh in order to find all the culprits.

CIA analysis leaked reported that Crown Prince Mohammed was directly connected to the murder, but Saudi prosecutors have refuted the reports and said there was no role of Mohammed in the murder.

Including close aids of Prince Mohammed, the US Treasury has imposed sanctions over 17 people, in fact on Monday, Germany has also applied the same measures.
