Biarritz, August 26: French President Emmanuel Macron has on Sunday said the prominent world leaders of the global industrialized countries were on the brink to ink an agreement over how to assist and support fight the wildfires in Amazon Rainforest and make efforts to restore the devastation.

According to Al-Jazeera news reports, Macron made these remarks in Biarritz, who is hosting the Group of seven (G7) summit on Sunday. At Biarritz G7 summit, Macron said, “There’s a real convergence to say: ‘Let’s all agree to help those countries hit by these fires’.”

He added the G7 countries which comprise Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Britain, Washington, and Italy were finalizing a potential pact on “technical and financial help”.

Macron raised the Amazone wildfire issue as the top agenda of the G7 summit after announcing a universal emergency and began discussions about the devastations at a lavish welcome dinner for his fellow counterparts and world leaders on Saturday,

German Chancellor Angela Merkey also stated her nation, including other counties, would hold talks with the Brazilian government about reforestation in the Amazon Rainforest.

“Of course [this is] Brazilian territory, but we have a question here of the rainforests that is really a global question,” she said.

“The lung of our whole Earth is affected, and so we must find common solutions.”

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump had already extended their support and assistance.

On Sunday, Bolivian President Evos Morales has said he would respect the international emergency call to fight wildfires raging in the nation’s southeast as he delayed his election campaign to respond to the global outcry,

However, Macron’s remarks earned a swift rebuff from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who called Amazon crisis an “internal issue” and stated Macron’s suggestion evoked “a colonialist mentality that is out of place in the 21st century”.

On Sunday, the French president stated world leaders are required to get ready to offer assistance with reforestation.

“There are several sensitivities which were raised around the table because all of that also depends on the Amazon countries,” he said, adding the world’s largest rainforest was important to the future of the earth.

“While respecting sovereignty, we must have a goal of reforestation and we must help each country to develop economically,” he said.
