India’s foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale has arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Thursday to hold bilateral discussions with his Nepal’s counterpart Shanker Das Bairagi aimed at reviewing the progress that has been made in ongoing projects in Nepal established by the Indian government.

According to ANI news reports, during his two-day official visit, on the first day, Gokhale called on Nepal’s foreign minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

Gokhale’s visit to Nepal comes a day before the commencing of the Nepali investment summit 2019. During his visit, Gokhale is slated to hold meetings with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The foreign secretary is in Himalayan nation in order to review the progress that has been made in the ongoing projects aided by India in Nepal.

According to information from the Nepal Investment Board, a total number of 602 participants from different 38 countries have confirmed their participation. A total number of 110 investors and officials will participate from India.

The Nepali government had organized the international investment summit last year on March 2 and 3, during which India had committed investment worth USD 31700 million for the re-building bid of Nepal.

In 2019, the government was expecting to have a participation of around 1,000 investors and officials from several other countries.
