Beijing, June 4: The Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei technology has on Tuesday said an independent choice should be taken soon by the Indian government regarding the company’s participation in the nation’s next-generation 5G network’s development.

Huawei India chief executive officer Jay Chen was quoted by The Economic Times as saying, “It is a right time for the telecom department to make the decision after almost 6-8 months of close engagement, and are quite happy and positive about the engagement.”

While pressuring its regional allies in Europe to prevent the use of Huawei and development of a 5G network with the firm’s help, the United States government has added Huawei to a trade blacklist. Moreover, several American companies have also suspended their business relations with Huawei, as well as, Google, whose Android operating system is used by Huawei smartphones.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Indian telecom minister, said in turn that India’s government would take a moment to thought into the potential of Huawei’s participation in the next-generation trials, according to Sputnik news reports.

Prasad said, “Participation of 5G is not conditional on the trial being started. Whether a company is allowed to participate or not is a complex question, including security issues.”

Commenting over US crackdown on Huawei, China’s foreign ministry said Washington was instituting all potential means to make its citizens and other nations believe the firm poses a threat to the nation’s security and has been asked many times to provide shreds of evidence of back its accusations.
