New Delhi, August 8: Bangladesh and India have on Wednesday held their seventh session of the Home Minister-level bilateral meeting in New Delhi, during which both sides discussed issues related to bilateral and regional interests including bolstering cooperation at the border and security management.

According to ANI news reports, the dialogues took place between Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and Bangladeshi Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

In a tweet, Shah wrote: “Met Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, Home Minister of Bangladesh. Had an extensive discussion on the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh.”

Offering details of the bilateral meeting, Syed Muazzem Ali, the Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, told reporters: “Our Home Minister today met the newly appointed Home Minister of India Amit Shah and they exchanged views on a number of issues between the two countries.”

Ali added, “We discussed border management and security issues and there has been complete unanimity of views between the two sides. So, there is no dispute between us. We are trying to strengthen our cooperation to make border management more effective.”

In July, the Indian home ministry has informed the Lok Sabha a total value of Rs 1138.48 crore has been used to fence the international border between Bangladesh and India during the past five years.
