Moscow, August 30: India’s Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has on Thursday met  Yury P Trutnev, the Russian deputy prime minister, in Moscow and discussed bilateral aspects, including boosting cooperation in metal and energy fields.

Pradhan also met with Mr. Didier Casemiro, Deputy CEO, Mr Krysz Zielicki, Head Business Development, Mr Anand, CEO – Nayara Energy representing Rosneft and discussed bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector and ways to “leverage Russian expertise in Indian E&P and Refining sectors”.

 

“Indian Minister of Steel and Petroleum & Natural Gas, @dpradhanbjp met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the energy and metals sectors. @MEAIndia,” the Indian Embassy in Russia tweeted.

 

“Engaging discussions with Russian Deputy PM & Presidential Envoy to Far Eastern Federal Districts of Russia, HE Yury P Trutnev in Moscow. We discussed to expand the scope of co-operation between India & Far Eastern Russia , in the energy and steel sectors,” Pradhan tweeted.

 

He discussed enhancing the flow of investments between India and Russia with State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov, according to ANI.

Pradhan also held discussions on further expanding cooperation in sourcing of metallurgical coal and crude oil from Far East of Russia.

Leaders from both nations also reviewed the progress in these fields ahead of the visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Vladivostok in the first week of September to address the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) and for the 20th Annual Bilateral Summit.

Both nations emphasized that discussions recognized there are still enormous opportunities for investments in oil and gas assets in Russia, and Russian investments in new initiatives launched to transform India into a gas-based economy through CGD, LNG terminals and use of natural gas in transportation.

Pradhan said he also conveyed India’s expectation that Russia, being a member of the OPEC plus, can balance global oil market by playing an important role both in terms of ensuring adequate supply and having reasonable and responsible price.
