Ankara, August 30: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has on Friday said Iranian Grace 1 supertanker, named changed to ‘Adrian Darya 1’, was heading to Lebanon.

The oil tanker was seized on July 4 by Gibraltar on suspicion of shipping crude oil to Syria in violation of the European Union (EU) sanctions. The ship was later discharged – a move taken by Gibraltar in defiance of United States President Donald Trump.

According to Marine Traffic, it was reported the vessel has changed its destination to the Bay of Iskenderun, Turkey.

However, Cavusoglu dismissed the reports, saying the Iranian oil tanker was not heading to Turkey, but Lebanon, according to Sputnik news reports.

In turn, the Lebanese finance minister stated Beirut hasn’t been yet informed about the vessel’s changed destination towards Lebanon.
